Piece description from the artist
The departing storms that hit Orrick, MO on May 10, 2014.
Joe Calton became hooked on photography at the age of 13 after joining the 8th grade Photography Club. His first camera was an all plastic "Diana" model from a dimestore that set him back $7.00. The club shot all B&W so they could develop their own negatives and make their own prints. It was a valuable learning experience and sparked an enthusiasm that has not diminished over the decades. He enjoys heading out on "photo safaris", sometimes with a particular subject or target in mind, but other times letting his muse guiding him with an eye peeled for the serendipitous discovery. Joe has a particular love for architecture, Americana, macro photography and turning common, everyday subjects into abstract images.
