All the Ins and Outs

Piece description from the artist

This piece refers to the complications, complexities and excitement of our contemporary lives, themes that I touch on frequently in my work. I reference vintage toys to refer, gently, to the less complicated past. This imagery allows for a fun, upbeat assessment of today's world, while acknowledging our nostalgia for what's been lost. I collage and manipulate the drawings of the original images which are then cut up and reassembled. The final image is painted with oil on heavy gesso paper. Some of the painted elements are integrated into the painting by collaging them on to the final piece. This image is framed in an elegant, simple, white frame.
