Piece description from the artist
This was my stop on the MTA when I first moved to New York. When people found out where I lived or friends would come visit, they would immediately comment on the surroundings being less than aesthetically pleasing. The area was run down, and run through, with the taste of melancholy in the air. Full of decay and the feeling of being forgotten, I always found it to be beautiful.
Vanessa 'Venusian' Edwards is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and Temple alumna who thrives on color, concept, and creativity. Through visually stimulating editing, she loves to emphasize the aspect of story and human emotion in any single photograph. Her favorite saying regarding her work is "human emotion is a lost art", which is something she aims to capture in every shot.
Today she is collaborating with brands and artists across industries to bring visionary ideas to life, exploring herbology and the ceremony of drinking tea, and exploring somatic movement through practice and performance.
