Piece description from the artist

This piece belongs to a series that informed by a meditation practice started in 2020 as a response to the pandemic. The title refers to the idea of detachment and is inspired by a quote by Vietnamese monastic and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh –

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything — anger, anxiety, or possessions — we cannot be free.”

About Clare Winslow

A native of Washington, D.C. and third-generation artist, Clare's training includes a degree in Fine Art and years of printmaking study at the Corcoran College of Art. Clare’s work has been included in group and solo shows in the in the US and overseas.

Clare's current body of work is united by the theme of ecology and relationships. Through semi abstract nature-based paintings and prints, her work explores the way hope and a sense of connection can be found even during anxious or uncertain times.

According to the artist, "Each project is a challenge for me — finding the delicate balance between process and feeling.”
