Piece description from the artist
I always wanted to paint animals and birds and was pretty good at it when I was a kid. Now I am mostly busy doing landscapes but sometimes I do portraits of animals and birds. I was instantly attracted by the play of light on this parrot's feathers.
I am a Russian born plein air oil and pastel artist from Crozet, Virginia. I paint primarily plein air landscapes, outdoor still life and florals and do some figurative art as well like portraits of people and animals. I had workshops with American artists Lois Griffel, Nancy Mertz, Richard McKinley and Alain Pickard. I am a member of Oil Painters of America, Pastel Society of America, Signature member Northwestern pastel society and Southeastern pastel society. My works are in private and corporate collections of USA, Canada, Russia and Italy.
