This is a mixed media photograph. Captured on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Michigan early one morning before I started to hike off into the distance. Textures were added after to enhance the mood and feel of this extraordinary and surreal place. Most of the images from this location I create are in infrared, so this rare color version is a unique departure for me.
Travis Forbear is a portrait photographer by trade, but works as a fine art photographer when ever the chance arrives. Using photographs taken in and around the areas he grew up, Travis blends imagination, childlike curiosity, and the occasional use of textures to create his art.
In 2010 one of Travis' photos, a close up of a snowflake, was featured in "Popular Photography":http://www.popphoto.com/gallery/friday-sep-10. Travis continues to live and work where only the best snowflakes can be found, in Hart, Michigan.
