Piece description from the artist
This was based off a number of different streets on Beacon Hill, combined into one. I did most of this drawing in a very short time, in order to have it ready for a show at Northeastern University. (The last half done in 12 hours straight, locked in my room) and my goal was to make the image feel intricate, long, and have the tower in the distance seem enormous.
Eli Portman was born and raised in the greater Boston area. He graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelors Degree in studio art in the spring of 2014. Primarily focusing on drawing, Portman has also experimented with oil painting and woodblock printmaking. Since graduating, Portman returned to the Boston area, where he currently lives. He has taught art to children grades K-8, and has hung his pen and ink landscape drawings in galleries, shops and cafes throughout the greater Boston Area, including Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, Newton, Boston, Dedham, Chelsea and Quincy. Portman has also done private commissions, and illustrated a children's book in late 2014.
