Piece description from the artist
A large bull elk walks by on a cold fall season morning in Boxley Valley, Arkansas, United States near the town of Ponca. Behind the trees is the Buffalo National River. This is a popular area for elk viewing. Also called wapiti, they are one the largest species of the deer family. Elk range in forest and forest-edge habitats, feeding on grass, plants, leaves, and bark. The males have large antlers, like this one, which they shed and regrow each year.
