Piece description from the artist
Backcountry camping in Grand Teton National Park. Taken around midnight, this is a 30-second long exposure with a 16mm wide angle lens. At this time of night, mosquitos have disappeared and all you can hear are the chirping crickets and calm breeze. The milky way shows its beauty in this cloudless sky. For this photo experiment, I asked my partner to turn on his headlamp inside the tent for about 5 seconds, then 10 seconds, and finally 15 seconds to see which one allowed the tent to brightly glow, but not become overexposed. 10 seconds seemed to be the magic number for this image.
Meghan Hill is an avid adventurer and photographer who loves documenting her travels. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Cinema/Photography from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. Some of her proudest work includes her night-sky photography. Meghan's work is constantly evolving according to her outdoor interests, but her ultimate goal is to continue to share the inspiring beauty of wilderness landscape in the hopes it can be hung on walls in places where nature in minimal, such as metropolitan cities and areas with high levels of light pollution.
