Piece description from the artist
Clouds are always in motion and difficult to paint well. A group of stormy clouds could include an incredible number and variety of colors from white to black including all tones of grey, violet, blue and purple.
In this painting the clouds are the main subject, water and the mountains around reflect and receive the light that clouds filter down.
Ricardo Maldonado loves painting and experimenting with color. He preferes natural outdoor subjects, as the light and colors change often with the seasons and the time of the day. Those changes, subtle or abrupt, are always challenging him. For Ricardo, painting is a passion and a discipline. Painting taught him to see things in a different way, observing every detail more carefully and more consciously, and ultimately appreciating more deeply all that surrounds him.
Ricardo's paintings are often very colorful and create a very lively atmosphere for the viewer. Sometimes strong and colorful contrasts enhance the difference between light and shadows and brings up beautiful effects not seen often.
