Commute

Piece description from the artist

This photograph shows a man commuting through Harlem while listening to music. The Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s impacted art, literature, and music in a manner that forever altered the American cultural landscape and opened the door for so many African Americans to create new music that embraced their culture. In a place so connected to justice, change and music, it would be interesting to know what music this commuter was listening to that day.
