Piece description from the artist
Summer in the countryside is my favorite time of year. I love the tall swaying grasses, ethereal summer light, and the calmness of the crickets and grazing animals. This old grain elevator is a weathered relic, but it is still used by the local farmers each summer. Well built by hand, grain elevators are most often the tallest structures you can find in rural America. Built to store grain and other crops until passing trains are filled with the crop and carried to manufacturers far away, these old buildings are made to last.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
