Piece description from the artist
In Soho, there are so many expensive storefronts and retail businesses that create an air of bourgeoisie. Amidst the fanciful fronts of retail therapy are dirty streets and hordes of graffiti. Nothing quite speaks to this city life dichotomy like the doors in this area of New York. They all tell a unique story of rebellion, of efforts to remind New York that it is still New York, a place with both artistry and pain.

Vanessa 'Venusian' Edwards is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and Temple alumna who thrives on color, concept, and creativity. Through visually stimulating editing, she loves to emphasize the aspect of story and human emotion in any single photograph. Her favorite saying regarding her work is "human emotion is a lost art", which is something she aims to capture in every shot.
Today she is collaborating with brands and artists across industries to bring visionary ideas to life, exploring herbology and the ceremony of drinking tea, and exploring somatic movement through practice and performance.
