Dramatic black and white panorama of the intriguing summer clouds above the skyline of National Harbor near Washington DC. I was walking on this hot day to the pedestrian pathway across the I-495 bridge and looking back towards the skyline of National Harbor I was fascinated by the strong cloud formations. This looked good in color, but I think a monochrome treatment suits it better to show the contrasts in the scene.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
