Dulcimer

Piece description from the artist

This painting of a Dulcimer has quite a history. It all started 40 years ago when I had a friend hand building a traditional Dulcimer. I created two paintings back then and just recently wanted to revisit the subject as # 18 of my Musical Instruments Series. Brilliant shades of orange, pink, lavender, green and blue fill the canvas. I enjoy taking an object whether it be a beautiful musical instrument or an egg slicer from the kitchen drawer, and going all out imagining the most vivid color combined with an exaggerated and distorted perspective to elicit a shocking and somewhat lighthearted response from the audience.
