Piece description from the artist
During the pandemic I have been making a series of paintings that explore plays of light and shadow in empty spaces. Although it was completely intuitive, and a logical extension of some of my earlier works, I feel the paintings evoke the poignancy of our forced solitary existence and the loneliness we feel during these troubled times. Doing these paintings keeps me focused and I believe they are a true representation of who I am as an artist and a human being at this time in history.
NJ-Based artist Allan Gorman started painting professionally in 2009, after a 40-year as an award-winning advertising creative director and author. His artworks have been featured in over 100 solo, museum and gallery exhibits throughout the US and Europe. Four paintings are currently included in: “LUSTER: Realism and Hyperrealism in Vehicle Art”, visiting twelve art museums through the summer of 2022; and he was one of a select group of artists invited to participate ArteLibre’s “20 Years in 20 × 20 Exhibition”, on view at museums in Spain and Italy through 2020. Gorman’s work has been represented in a number of prestigious fine art galleries and has been featured in many art publications and important online art blogs, such as: The Huffington Post, American Art Collector, Studio Visit Magazine, Art Habens Review, Poets/Artist Magazine, and the cover of The Albany Museum of Art Magazine.
