Evening Moon Fruit

Piece description from the artist

Evening Moon Fruit is a burst of color in the night sky, perhaps the light of another galaxy or interstellar nebula? Existing between constellations and planets, lush with roses and pink apples, this work is inspired by our dreamscapes and fascination with science fiction. Original is comprised of pen, ink, acrylic paint, & antique collage clippings.

About Jenny Brown

Providence, RI

Over the past two decades, Jenny has been making art which questions our long held understandings of time, space, energy, and matter. With a focus on visualizing the most lush & ethereal phenomena of the natural world, her collages and drawings are first and foremost celebrations of the ongoing physical and spiritual evolution of our universe. The use of layered antique collage, alongside elements of painting & drawing, provides her the building blocks for studying and illustrating the complexities of what was, what is, and what could be.

Jenny is a 1996 graduate of Bennington College and received her MFA in 2005 from The School of Visual Arts, where she focused on the study of painting, drawing, and collage. Jenny moved to Rhode Island in 2008, and currently work out of an antique & vintage paper filled studio in Providence’s Olneyville neighborhood. Over the past few years, her work has been shown at The Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha, NE, Drive-by Projects in Watertown, MA, & the Superfine Art Fair in Washington DC. Her collage work & practice was recently featured in both Issue 1 of Wilder Collage’s Roam Magazine, and the Arts to Hearts Magazine Volume 4. In late 2022, Jenny joined both the Squam Art Workshops (Holderness, NH) and Maud Morgan Arts Center (Cambridge, MA) teams as a freelance collage and mixed media art instructor.
