During the trip to Furano, Hokkaido in 2012, I encountered endless fields of flowers. I used a telephoto lens to compress the foreground and background of the flower field, transforming this moment into a scene reminiscent of an oil painting.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Derek Shin is a photographer and a registered architect who first discovered his passion for photography when he moved to Canada in 2005. During a gap year between high school and college, he travelled through over 22 countries and honed his skills capturing diverse landscapes and cultures.
Combining his architectural background with a love for photography, Derek's images reflect a unique perspective shaped by his understanding of space and design. Showcased in exhibitions in Seoul and New York, Derek's work captures both grandeur and subtleties of the world.
