Piece description from the artist
I've taken many very professional images of fireworks with a long exposure on a tripod to make sure everything is clearly in focus. In Pittsburgh during the Covid days, I decided to stay in the hotel room and take hand-held images of the fireworks. The intentional movement makes a much more expressive view of the fireworks with the movement of all the boats in the river watching the show.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
