Piece description from the artist
After a shockingly wet summer in central New Mexico and the nearby Sandia Mountains, the generally subdued hues of Otero Canyon sprouted an epic bloom of golden flowers. The result in the darkened corridor of the canyon was a scene out of dreams where the yellow seemed to glow from within the deep shade of the surrounding terrain. We made a trip back to Otero specifically to capture some photographs of the scene following the day that we were surprised by their arrival. In a matter of days, the explosive display of nature's ebullient spirit was gone. I have never seen the canyon like this since.
