Piece description from the artist
This piece, like many others of Maggie Jones Boudreaux's work, is an imagined narrative of people and places that inspire her. Sometimes inspired by actual people or actual places but often a combination and mixture. These are the places she likes to escape to. She is attempting to bring about a certain feeling. This place… is a place of rest, peace, and connection. A place to breathe. The sun is shining and the early morning fog lifting. This little village view could exist from the top of a mountain, at the end of your street or from the high coastal cliffs in some far off place. It is a different place for all of us. She doesn't know where this exactly for you… but for her it is a place she likes to visit often. If Grace had a place, she believes this where she would live.
Maggie Jones Boudreaux loves all things, she is naturally curious and enjoys exploring all things to do with color, line and shape. Her consistency is inconsistency. Her work varies as her life varies. She enjoys creating abstracts, landscapes and botanicals. Maggie finds joy working in bright vibrant rich colors and find peace in soothing, calming neutrals. She says, " I cant't ever imagine sticking to one palette nor one subject matter. I believe it would take the joy out creating for me." Her enthusiasm comes from a natural curiosity of the world that surrounds her.
What's next? She is unsure… It is her aim to put one foot in front of the other and create based upon her daily experiences and blessings life brings her way. This is her spark. Her Joy. Maggie says, "She is forever grateful to be who she is and where she is. Her work is a response, an expression of her gratitude.
Maggie Jones Boudreaux has been working as a professional artist for the past fifteen years. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting with an emphasis in printing making as well a Masters of Education.
