Piece description from the artist
I visit Vienna quite often as it offers fantastic scenes and subjects that inspire me. It is just a 2 hour flight from where I live.
The historical cafes in Vienna are extraordinary for the visitors and tourists, but I am interested in them even as painting subjects. This is the interior view of Cafe Sperl. Apart from the light in the room, I am amazed even myself how the blue texture on the red armchairs appeared in an impressionist way. This is the spontaneity of watercolor. I didn't even know how it would look when I throw that cerulean blue on the brown matter as red color on the armchair. It cooled down the chair and gave it a nice texture.
My artistic practice is continuously developing a vision to interpret ordinary subjects into an authentic piece of art. My inspiration is urban life, city architecture, and the nature. I experiment with harmonic juxtaposition of values, colors and reference subjects. Even though I pay attention to technical planning, I believe that the uniqueness of a painting comes from the calligraphic marks and brushstrokes. I consider myself still in an evolving phase that I would acquire a unique style and character based on my calligraphic prints.
I stay mostly on the realistic side, where I lean to abstraction from time to time for giving realistic impressions.
