Imaginary Botanicals II

Piece description from the artist

These Imaginary Botanicals came about right after 9/11. The artist was working with the specimen collections at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia and what sprang out were bright and colorful type specimens that sprang from the artists imagination. The bright and cheerful palette was a reaction to the horrible events of that day and which helped the healing process to begin.

About Craig Stover

Philadelphia, PA

After graduating from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1993, Craig Stover began his artistic career as a studio assistant for the internationally renown artist Sam Maitin. He also began showing his works in a variety of galleries both locally and nationally. Mr. Stover continued to exhibit his works in a number of solo exhibitions while running the center which culminated in a solo print exhibition at the Williams Gallery. At the beginning of the pandemic, he began his most successful series of works titled Sentinels which were large abstracted warrior figures that became his signature style.
