This piece deals with the reality of poverty here in the United States particularly among immigrants coming to seek a better life. It is a call to action to help those in need and respond just as Jesus tells us in the Gospel "Whatsoever you did to the least of these my brethren, you did unto Me."
Bay Area artist Jaime Longa's work has examined many subjects throughout the years ranging from narrative trompe l'oeil still life paintings, urban landscapes, and contemporary portraiture. His work is notable for covering topics such as cultural identity, history, and spirituality. Much of Longa's current pieces deal with the experiences and struggles of the Basque people and diaspora. He received his BFA annd MFA in Painting from Academy of Art University and continues to be based in San Francisco. Longa's work can be found in numerous collections and have garnered praise from publications as Southwest Art and The Artist's Magazine.
