In Our Veins

Piece description from the artist

Having driven past the badlands north of San Ysidro, New Mexico in north central New Mexico probably a hundred times, I was always taken by the erosion created lines of this particular landscape. On this particular day, the timely addition of a not-too-heavy snow created the unlikely juxtaposition of white against the blood red veins of the earth. So instead of continuing on back to Albuquerque after a road trip up north, I had to get out and record the unlikely scene. There is a factor of luck involved with photography… as the perfect conditions that occurred here. But the harder a photographer works, and makes themselves available to the ephemeral tendencies of nature and creativity, the luckier they become. I had driven past this location so many times and held such high regard for its uniqueness, that when something special occurred, I was shocked into action. The creative processes of nature can run through the veins of the soulful observer and reward them with serendipitous beauty.
