Piece description from the artist
Informed by the human figure, and the idea of looking through the keyhole of a door into a space beyond, these abstract color field paintings are active portraits which silhouette contains numerous possibilities.
Adrian Johnston is an artist and illustrator in Boston MA. Since his earliest days in Tennessee, mark-making, and movement have been a foundational directive to his pursuits. He has been influenced by both eastern and western schools of visual art as means to communicate and experience stories. Visual imagery in oil, tempera, acrylic, graphite, ink, pigment, pixels and vectors provide means for explorations that are part architectural framework, part fingerprint of the human psyche in landscape, and part play in the physical surface of the artistic medium itself.
