Piece description from the artist
An expressionist vision of a waterfall memory.
Iris Osterman grew up in New York and currently lives in Framingham, Massachusetts. She graduated from Boston University in 1972, and earned her M.F.A. from The American University in 1977.
Osterman's reference to objective reality and an expressive use of line have remained consistent in her art-making process. For Iris, the line carries the message in each piece, describing what is seen and felt; it is weighty, energetic and even ethereal at times. She also maintains a restricted palette, which allows her to focus less on color and more on linear forms, composition, and contrast.
Iris' paintings have been featured at The "Bowery Gallery":http://www.bowerygallery.org/ in New York City, "The Cambridge Art Association":http://www.cambridgeart.org in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and"The Danforth Museum":http://www.danforthmuseum.org in Framingham, Massachusetts, among many others.
