Piece description from the artist
Summer is in its last throes of casting a strong light over California. I was able to capture the colors and reflections passing through this antique set of geometric cocktail glasses and carafe before its opportunity passed. I have spent the last two years painting what is not seen, such as water and clear glass, but how light distorts and refracts while passing through these substances. Light passing through colored glass was no exception while painting my observations, but clearly a colorful delight.
Raised in Zimbabwe and transplanted to the United States as a teenager, Roger has learned to straddle different worlds and cultures. His unique artistic style reflects his diverse background and myriad cultural influences.
As I turn around and prepare to leave the party, my paintings are celebrations of the last things I’ve observed.
