Treasure can be defined through the eye of the beholder. For me, this home here is the best kind of treasure. I found it after more than 8 hours on the road, finding little to work with. However, as I moved into this area, the clouds spread across the horizon, and this home was presented almost as a gift.
Jerred Zegelis was a public high school teacher for almost 20 years before becoming a full-time artist, using a camera as his primary means of expression. Zegelis infuses his love of the natural world into his photography, specifically thinking of the ways local artists interact with the world around them. He does not focus on mountains or oceans, large cities and tropical paradises and instead turns his lens toward the common dirt roads, prairies and open skies of the midwest. He has worked on many large-scale photography projects with another healthcare photographer, and making high-resolution imagery is his primary focus now for large spaces.
