Piece description from the artist
Isn't he or she cute! It wasn't until after I walked past it that someone pointed out this Atlantic Ghost Crab hiding in a hole in the sand at Folly Beach, South Carolina, United States. I can't believe I almost stepped on him barefooted. That would have hurt! They hide so well and blend in with the sand. He didn't like me taking his photo so he came out, walked backwards, then tried to bury himself in a new hole. The Atlantic Ghost Crab is a common species along the Atlantic coast of the US, and is the only species of Ghost Crab along the Atlantic Coast. Their eyes can turn to giving them 360 degree vision.
