Piece description from the artist
Modern furniture refers to furniture produced from the late 19th century through the present that is influenced by modernism. Post-World War II ideals of cutting excess, commodification, and practicality of materials in design heavily influenced the aesthetic of the furniture. It was a tremendous departure from all furniture design that had gone before it. This painting of a mid-century classic red chair by Edward M. Fielding goes perfectly with a forward looking decor.
Artist, designer, and fine art photographer, Edward M. Fielding works in the Upper Valley region of the Connecticut River Valley area of New Hampshire and Vermont. The rural country side provides inspiration to his landscapes of natural beauty and the simple life on family farms.
In his work you can often find old trucks, heirloom barns and workhorse vintage tractors as well as glimpses of coastal areas from Florida, California, Prince Edward Island and Maine. As a constant traveler, Fielding also brings us views from as far away as Montana where his in-laws live in Bozeman, the American Southwest, his birthplace — Hawaii, California and European photographs of Italy and France.
