Piece description from the artist
Mr. Terrier is a very sophisticated addition to a series of personified animals. This piece is great for kids' rooms, man caves, and more!
When asked about her work, Cheryl Gross always equates it with creating an environment and transforming inner thoughts into reality. Much as in architecture or urban planning, that reality and humor becomes the foundation of the work.
Gross works in layers and begins each piece with the physical process of creating an aesthetic foundation. She is involved in solving visual and verbal complexities such as design and narrative. The results of these processes are mini documentaries and drawings that are based on the absurdities of life.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, her urban influence has indeed added an edge. Cheryl now resides in Jersey City, which adds yet another strong environmental aspect to her work.
