Piece description from the artist
Lots of palette knife work and thick impasto brushwork create a mosaic of light bouncing off the marsh waters and capture the first bit of morning light bursting forth. This painting was inspired by a camping trip on Hamilton Lake in South Carolina.
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
