Piece description from the artist
This handcrafted b&w film image depicts a safety refuge inside an historic train tunnel. Refuge insets like the one pictured were constructed about every twenty feet inside the brick tunnel for the purpose of sheltering in the event of a passing train. The structure is over a century old and still an active train passage. It's very dark in the part of the tunnel where I took this photograph which required a lens with a large maximum aperture as well as high speed film.
