When you walk around the US Treasury building right by the White House, you turn the corner and it looks like the pillars go on for days! I had to stand in the bike lane to get the right angle to fit all of the pillars in this shot. I like the pattern and repetition that it creates in the photograph.
Birch Thomas, a tenth generation Arlington native, has spent the past three years capturing the city with her distinctive eye. Birch is a self-taught photographer based in Washington, DC and her love for the local landscape is deeply rooted. Her favorite season has always been the change of season which is evident in her work. Living in a city that provides the rich colors and elements of all four seasons provides an ever-changing backdrop to her captures that sparks her relentless passion. Her goal is to create photographs that move you, evoke emotion, and lights your own spark within you to find your passion which transcends far beyond the lens.
