Piece description from the artist
This old barn is surrounded by the lower meadows of the Rocky Mountains, and has survived the harsh seasons of this area by being protected in a small valley sheltered from the wind. I love to find an old barn, as they are often the last old relics standing of a family farm. They remind me of simple times in history, where humans were connected to the land and nature. The wood of this old barn shows the weathering of time, creating the nostalgic charming patina that only time can create.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
