Piece description from the artist
The majestic Smith Rock just north of Bend, Oregon sits as high as 1,000 above the ground below it. A phenomenon resulting from the settlement of volcanic ash, it's know as one of Oregon's 7 wonders. Proud to say I hiked all the way to the top. Tough walk, but the views were more than worth the payoff. From this view we see the Crooked River winding through the rocks, making this a quintessential Oregon scene.
Danny Anderson has no formal training in photography, but he makes up for what he lacks in training with a unique perception of the world around him.
From the beginning, Danny's approach was simple; when he photographs a location, Danny attempts to capture not just what it looks like, but what it feels like to be there. In doing so, contrasts, composition, dynamics and drama have become an integral part of his process and consideration while making artwork. Danny is always searching for everyday beauty so he can allow the day-to-day imagery to distract and inspire him. Danny refers to this process as "natural distraction."
Danny currently lives and works in Brentwood, California.
