St Joseph Lighthouse Painterly

Piece description from the artist

Fierce waves crash along St Joseph North Pier Inner and Outer Lighthouses in St Joseph, Michigan, United States. This is a photo I took then turned into a digital painting with texture to create a mixed media art piece. Some of these waves had to be 10 – 15 feet tall. It was so interesting to watch. The St. Joseph North Pier Inner and Outer Lights are lighthouses in Michigan at the entrance to the St. Joseph River on Lake Michigan. The station was built in 1832 with the current lights built in 1906 and 1907. In 2005, they were decommissioned. In 2013, the ownership was transferred to the city of St. Joseph and they formed a committee who raised funds to restore them.
