“Standing Strong” is a composition of a single white horse standing in an alert posture. Before applying the layers of paint, I used an Acrylic molding paste to build up the form of the horse and create a textured background. My color choices for the shadows on this horse are soft, neutral blue violets. For contrast, I chose a soft yellow background and a brown foreground which helped the horse stand out visually. I found the large shapes of light against dark most compelling and inspirational for this piece.
The natural world and her love for animals inspire Dara Daniel's Acrylic on canvas, mixed-media paintings. She combines bold colors and shapes and lots of textures to create fun, playful interpretations of horses and other animal spirits.
For all her paintings, she combines all the available elements of design to express rhythms and energy and moods and emotion. Dara explains, "Each painting experience is unique yet, my goal for all my paintings is to capture a degree of nature's passionate spirit, joy, and beauty."
