Structures: MTA East New York

Piece description from the artist

East New York is truly the last stand in Brooklyn for gentrification. It remains one of the last relatively untouched areas of Brooklyn and New York. The structures of the MTA system are now a historic landmark; decaying, forgotten, and untravelled. The colors of the rusted iron, the graffiti of artists who have come and gone, the outdated architecture… The most astounding beauties I've found are among the abandoned of east New York.

About Vanessa Edwards

Brooklyn, NY

Vanessa 'Venusian' Edwards is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and Temple alumna who thrives on color, concept, and creativity. Through visually stimulating editing, she loves to emphasize the aspect of story and human emotion in any single photograph. Her favorite saying regarding her work is "human emotion is a lost art", which is something she aims to capture in every shot.

Today she is collaborating with brands and artists across industries to bring visionary ideas to life, exploring herbology and the ceremony of drinking tea, and exploring somatic movement through practice and performance.
