Piece description from the artist
While in self-isolation due to the virus I take my daily walk on the shore and that is where I found this beauty – hence the name.
Sand is a miraculous beautiful sight to behold. It's movements create abstract paintings that are formed by nature itself. Sand will be impacted greatly by the results of the change in the climate and the change in the environment in which so much has thrived for centuries. High tides will bring erosion and will deplete sand. I see my photographs as a legacy to the beauty of nature. A legacy to its serenity, its peace. These photographs are not manipulated in any way they are just as I first saw them each original never to be the same again.
Marian Jones is an abstract painter and photographer who has been working in the visual
arts since 2019 (photography) March 2020 lockdown (painting), she is based in Oceanside,
California. A Texas native who has a Bachelors's Degree in Theatre Arts and a Master's in
Human Behavior has acted and produced theatre for over 20 years. Jones’ switch from
performing arts to visual arts was a very natural process that easily moved from one to the other.
Jones' abstract acrylic paintings and her designs are inspired by her work developing trust in her
inner self over the years. Finding the ability to honestly express without obstacles and in so
doing she opens her paintings up for others to find in her work their own truths. Indeed those
who have commented on her work have each seen something very different from others.
Trusting her hands to move and capture a design is simply a matter of trusting herself. Jones is also inspired by music everything from jazz to classical to hip hop and everything in between.
Jones’ abstract photography is an art form that allows her to use her strong sense of observation.
Her sand photographs are untouched, they are exactly as they were seen. Nature at its finest.
Jones’ started showing her photographs immediately at on-line galleries; Light Space Time and
Praxis Photo Center.
Jones’ abstract paintings have been shown at the Jones Gallery in Kansas City, MO.
