Piece description from the artist
I've always loved the lily of the valley flower, so I was captivated when I saw a tree with pink and white flowers cascading down bight green leaves.
I often paint florals with a mix of watercolour and acrylic as the contrast between these two mediums captures the shifting light between the petals beautifully.
Elizabeth is based in New Zealand, right near the beach. Being close to such a beautiful landscape provides the inspiration for her work, as she feels a strong connection to her local environment.
Elizabeth is interested in capturing the essence of a place through colour and brushstroke. Her artworks often use vivid colour palettes to capture the feelings experienced while being in nature.
Her painting style is constantly evolving. One of the consistent features is a fascination with colour and light and she works with a variety of different mediums to balance out the two, including gouache, watercolour, acrylic, oil paint and pastels.
