Piece description from the artist
Morro Bay Harbor with iconic Morro Rock in the background. Morro Bay, Central Coast California, USA. Thank you for your interest in my photography.
Morro Rock is a volcanic plug that stands 576 feet (176 meters) tall in Morro Bay, California. It is a well-known and iconic landmark of the Central Coast region of California. The rock was formed about 23 million years ago, and it is one of the nine volcanic plugs in the area. The rock is made up of dacite, a type of volcanic rock that is often gray or light-colored.
Morro Rock has been an important landmark for sailors and explorers for centuries. The first European to see Morro Rock was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who explored the area in 1542. It was later named by Spanish explorers "El Morro" due to its resemblance to the turbans worn by Moors, and "Morro Rock" became its English name.
Today, Morro Rock is a popular tourist destination and a protected habitat for peregrine falcons. Visitors can enjoy views of the rock from nearby beaches, parks, and the Morro Bay harbor. However, climbing the rock itself is prohibited due to safety and environmental concerns.

His photographs are presented in a straightforward way and engage the creative process to produce photographs of familiar subjects in an impressionistic and abstract manner. His simple hope is that his photographic work promotes an interest in art and that it expresses joy and beauty.
