Piece description from the artist
Chicago series (2014) is kept in a rather cold tonality to underline its pristine character and elegance…
I am a Polish artist who currently lives in Rome, Italy. I have studied Intermedia art at Edinburgh College of Art and
I graduated in 2015. I also had a chance to spend one semester as an exchange student in SUNY Purchase, NY, learning new techniques and developing my skills.
The intention of my work is to create psychological landscapes, or scenes of tension, that would carry elements of mystery and eeriness. In the artistic process I'm searching for what's raw and instinctual in order to bring out personal expressiveness in the process of creation a state of suspension between different notions/realities.
Drawing is one of my favorite methods of artistic activity as it gives me a great opportunity to have a more spontaneous approach to the creative process, introducing what's instinctive and bold. My work is often inspired by the sculptural pieces of other artists that evoke poignancy, eroticism, conflict, darkness, disturbance. Anything that provokes an emotional response in me might become a great source for my creative passion whether it's people, animals, art objects, dramatic compositions, or scenes from everyday life. I often use photography as a starting point and use images as a reference to further my artistic pursuit.
