This is was a portrait for my friend Vanessa for her birthday.
The tiger and crab represent her zodiac signs
The Hydrangeas represent her favorite flower
The fox and owl represent her favorite bird and forest animal
The growing animals are otters
and the cup cakes represent one of her jobs baking gourmet cup cakes
Mary Syring was born in the Bay Area, and has since lived in quite a few locations. From the suburban town of Bakersfield, to the country of Kazakhstan, and moved back to San Francisco in 2004 to attend the Academy of Art University. She graduated in 2009 with her B.F.A. in Illustration. She prefers traditional mediums including ink and gold paint.
