This image of the Washington Monument towering over the Second World War memorial in Washington DC was carefully aligned to make it appear that the monument is a rocket ship leaving from the Mall at night. The fountains provide a perfect base and the Stars and Stripes flag gently waving in the night air appears to be floating in the sky.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
