Piece description from the artist
Washington Monument stands over World War 2 memorial and fountains at night in Washington DC. This image was carefully aligned above one of the main fountains of the Second World War monument in the city to make it appear that the Washington Monument was about to take flight into the night air. A slow shutter speed made the fountains smooth and vague to add to the impression that this was a rocket blast!
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
