Welcome to Indian Canyons

Welcome to Indian Canyons is a photograph that glimpses into the backyard of a mid-century modern home in the iconic neighborhood of Indian Canyons in Palm Springs, California. With deep midcentury roots and distinctive architecture, Indian Canyons is home to some of the most famous houses in Palm Springs. While walking through the winding streets, you'll feel as if you're transported to another era in time. Funky midcentury architecture is everywhere in Palm Springs, but this home in particular caught my eye and stole my heart.

Much of my art is inspired by color and shapes, which is why I immediately gravitated toward this backyard fence – with its many circles and rectangles. Situated in the middle of a desert, and surrounded by mountains, I was surprised to see such lush, green grass in this backyard. The vibrant hue of the grass and the deep blue in the sky are two key elements that lead me to capture this image.
