A painting of a white hellebore Lenten Rose blossom on a spring day. I focused on the stamens putting some of the other layers out of focus for a soft abstract artistic depth of field look. In the genus Helleborus, they are part of the sub family Ranunculaceae or ranunculas and are a hardy winter plant. Sometimes they ae called a winter or Christmas rose, but they are not in the rose family. Many of them are poisonous. They bloom in late winter and early spring.
