Jess Cross Davis was born in Freedom, Pennsylvania in 1981. She began exhibiting her work as a teenager with shows at The Baltimore Museum of Art and at The Yellow Barn Gallery in Glen Echo, Maryland.
In her work Jess combines traditional portraiture with abstract layers of projected light. Jess first started painting her Goddesses series after the birth of her son, examining the delicate dichotomy between strength and vulnerability. Her work has been described as a “modernistic take on portraiture with visionary play between shapes and light”.
Jess currently lives and teaches in Salisbury, Maryland, where she balances the roles of artist, teacher, wife and mother.
